Skoda Kushaq Facelift:
Skoda Auto India has officially released the first teaser of the updated Kushaq, which is expected to launch on January 19, 2026, and while the short video does not reveal many details, it clearly hints at a refreshed version of the popular midsize SUV. The teaser shows the car fully wrapped, keeping most of the design elements hidden, but it confirms that Skoda is preparing for a mid-cycle update. Over the past few months, the updated Kushaq has been spotted several times on Indian roads during testing, which suggests that the company is close to finalising the product. Since its launch in mid-2021, the Kushaq has played a major role in improving Skoda’s sales numbers in India. Along with the Slavia sedan and the newly introduced Kylaq, it forms the brand’s locally produced trio based on the MQB A0 IN platform. These models have helped Skoda Auto Volkswagen India achieve its highest-ever domestic sales of 1.17 lakh units in 2025, proving that Indian customers have responded well to the company’s locally made products.
The upcoming Kushaq facelift is expected to bring several visual updates, even though the changes may be subtle rather than dramatic. Spy images suggest that the front grille, headlamps, and bumpers will receive mild design tweaks, giving the SUV a fresher look. Skoda may also introduce new alloy wheel designs to make the vehicle look more modern and sporty. At the rear, the SUV is likely to get slightly revised tail lamps and minor styling updates, keeping the overall design familiar while still making it look new. Inside the cabin, more noticeable improvements are expected. The dashboard layout may be refreshed with better materials to give the interior a more premium feel. The biggest upgrade could be the introduction of Level 2 ADAS features, including adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, and autonomous emergency braking, which would bring the Kushaq in line with newer rivals. Other expected additions include a larger touchscreen, ventilated seats, a 360-degree camera system, and new upholstery, all aimed at improving comfort and convenience for daily use.

Under the hood, Skoda is likely to keep the existing engine options unchanged, which means the Kushaq will continue to be offered with the 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo petrol engine producing 115 PS and 178 Nm of torque, as well as the more powerful 1.5-litre four-cylinder TSI engine delivering 150 PS and 250 Nm. These engines have already proven to be reliable and enjoyable to drive, so retaining them makes sense. Buyers will continue to get a choice between a six-speed manual gearbox, a six-speed torque converter automatic, and a seven-speed DSG, although there are rumours that Skoda might also introduce an eight-speed automatic option. This facelifted Kushaq is expected to be the first among Skoda and Volkswagen’s mid-cycle updates, with similar changes likely to arrive later on the Slavia, Virtus, and Taigun. Overall, the refreshed Kushaq seems to focus on improving features, safety, and comfort rather than making major mechanical changes, which should help it remain competitive in the crowded midsize SUV segment.
