India Car Export List 2025–26: Maruti Suzuki Fronx, Jimny, Hyundai Verna, Nissan Magnite Lead Global Demand

India’s passenger vehicle export story is quietly evolving into something far more diverse and globally competitive than what the domestic SUV craze might suggest, as international markets continue to embrace a broader mix of body styles including hatchbacks, sedans and compact crossovers that are engineered and manufactured locally. While Indian buyers have increasingly leaned toward SUVs for their road presence and practicality, export demand reflects a more balanced appetite, driven by affordability, fuel efficiency and adaptability to varied global conditions. This financial year, exports have recorded healthy growth, underlining how made-in-India vehicles are steadily gaining trust across continents. Leading this charge is the Maruti Suzuki Fronx, which has emerged as the top exported model with an impressive 82,384 units shipped between April 2025 and February 2026, marking a strong 33.8 per cent year-on-year growth. Close behind, the Maruti Suzuki Jimny carved its own niche with 65,471 units and a remarkable 49.3 per cent increase, reinforcing the global appeal of compact off-roaders. Meanwhile, the Hyundai Verna secured the third position with 59,872 units, proving that sedans still hold strong relevance in overseas markets where comfort and driving dynamics are highly valued.

What makes this export performance particularly compelling is the emergence of unexpected high-growth contributors that highlight shifting global preferences and the adaptability of Indian manufacturers. The Nissan Magnite stands out as a breakout success, recording a staggering 152.0 per cent growth to reach 51,501 units, making it one of the fastest-growing exports in the lineup. Similarly, the Maruti Suzuki Swift continues to be a dependable global favourite with 49,319 units and a solid 57.6 per cent rise, while the Hyundai Grand i10 maintained steady momentum with 48,108 units and a 17.3 per cent increase. Further down the list, models like the Hyundai Aura and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder delivered strong performances with 37,840 and 36,785 units respectively, both registering healthy growth rates. However, not all models shared the same trajectory, as some experienced declines due to changing market dynamics and competitive pressures. The Maruti Suzuki Baleno saw a slight drop of 4.6 per cent, while the Volkswagen Virtus declined by 12.0 per cent. More significant setbacks were observed for the Nissan Sunny, which fell sharply by 40.9 per cent, and the Honda Elevate, which recorded a steep 69.7 per cent dip, indicating fluctuating demand patterns in certain regions.

Despite these fluctuations, the overall narrative remains positive, supported by several strong gainers and new entrants that add fresh energy to the export ecosystem. The Mahindra XUV 3XO emerged as a notable climber with an impressive 104.5 per cent jump, reflecting its growing international acceptance, while the newly introduced Maruti Suzuki e Vitara contributed a promising 21,229 units, hinting at the future potential of electrified mobility exports. Additionally, models like the Maruti Suzuki Celerio and Maruti Suzuki S-Presso posted robust growth figures of 74.6 per cent and 47.4 per cent respectively, showcasing the continued demand for affordable and efficient small cars. Toward the lower end of the ranking, vehicles such as the Honda City, Volkswagen Taigun, Hyundai Alcazar, Kia Carens and Hyundai Venue rounded out the top 25 list, each contributing to the broader export narrative in their own capacity. Altogether, this diverse portfolio of vehicles highlights India’s growing stature as a global automotive hub, capable of catering to varied tastes and requirements while maintaining competitive pricing and consistent quality across segments.
