Mahindra Passenger Vehicle Sales 2025:

Mahindra & Mahindra’s rise to the second spot in India’s passenger vehicle market in 2025 has mainly been driven by the strong and steady performance of its well-known SUVs, which continue to enjoy high demand across the country, and data from Vahan registrations between January and November 2025 clearly shows that Mahindra’s core models played a major role in pushing overall numbers, with the Scorpio range standing out as the biggest contributor to the brand’s success, as it alone recorded around 1.61 lakh units during this period, making up more than a quarter of Mahindra’s total passenger vehicle sales, while close behind was the Thar, which has firmly established itself as a popular lifestyle SUV in India, and despite being positioned as a niche product, it managed to sell about 1.07 lakh units in the first eleven months of the year, proving that customer interest in rugged and character-filled vehicles remains strong.

Alongside these two top performers, other long-standing and newer models also supported Mahindra’s strong showing in 2025, with the Bolero once again proving its importance as a dependable and widely accepted SUV, especially in rural and semi-urban areas, where it continues to be valued for its durability and practicality, as reflected by its sales of 93,436 units during the same period, while the XUV 3XO delivered encouraging numbers with registrations of over 90,000 units, showing that Mahindra’s renewed focus on the compact SUV segment is starting to pay off, and the XUV700, which had earlier enjoyed massive popularity, still managed to contribute more than 80,000 units, even though its pace has cooled compared to its initial launch phase, and on the electric vehicle front, Mahindra’s numbers remain relatively modest but are gradually growing, with the combined sales of the BE 6 and XEV 9e reaching nearly 39,000 units, while the XUV400 added just under 3,000 units, and at the lower end of the list, the Marazzo continued to struggle with only a few hundred units sold, highlighting where customer demand is clearly concentrated within Mahindra’s portfolio.

In total, Mahindra registered around 5.74 lakh passenger vehicles between January and November 2025, and based on Vahan data available till December 25, this strong performance helped the company become the second-largest passenger vehicle manufacturer in India for the year, marking a major milestone as it was the first time Mahindra managed to finish a calendar year ahead of both Hyundai and Tata Motors, while Maruti Suzuki continued its long-standing dominance at the top of the market with registrations of roughly 17.5 lakh units, and when compared to Mahindra’s sales of about 4.90 lakh units in 2024, the 2025 numbers point to a healthy year-on-year growth of around 18 percent, showing clear improvement in market acceptance, even as the battle for the remaining podium positions remained extremely close, with Tata Motors expected to secure third place with estimated registrations of around 5.52 lakh units, narrowly staying ahead of Hyundai, which is likely to end the year just behind at approximately 5.50 lakh units.
Now being on the biggest car makers in India and being from India, Mahindra marks a new milestone in its journey and has also proven itself worthy in the overseas market as well, example being very successful in Australia.
