The Nissan Tekton is set to make its entry in the Indian market soon, and holds similarity with the upcoming Renault Duster. Here’s what we know so far.

As part of its renewed strategy to rebuild its presence in India, Nissan is preparing for an important phase in early 2026 with the launch of two new vehicles that will set the tone for the brand’s comeback. The first model to arrive will be the Gravite MPV, which is scheduled to be introduced in January 2026, with customer deliveries expected to begin by March. This launch will mark Nissan’s first major step in its turnaround plan for the Indian market. Soon after, in February 2026, Nissan will follow up with the all-new Tekton midsize SUV, a model that is expected to become the backbone of the company’s future lineup. Alongside these launches, Nissan has also confirmed that work is already underway on a larger seven-seat SUV, which will be developed for India as well as for global markets. This clearly shows that Nissan is thinking beyond short-term gains and is planning a more stable and long-lasting product strategy for the country.
The Tekton midsize SUV will play a very important role in Nissan’s revival, as it will bring the brand back into one of the most competitive and popular vehicle segments in India. Once launched, the Tekton will go up against well-established rivals such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Victoris, Mahindra Scorpio N and the upcoming Tata Sierra. Nissan plans to officially showcase the Tekton at a special India-focused resurgence event in February 2026, where it will highlight the SUV as a key product for strengthening its market position. While Nissan has not yet shared exact engine details, the Tekton is expected to come with turbo-petrol engine options, offered with both manual and automatic gearboxes. There are also strong chances that a hybrid version could be added later, helping the brand appeal to buyers looking for better fuel efficiency. On higher variants, Nissan may even offer an all-wheel-drive system, which would give the Tekton an edge among buyers who value extra capability and grip.

Inside the cabin, Nissan has kept most details secret for now, but expectations are high. The Tekton is likely to offer a modern and well-equipped interior with a large touchscreen for infotainment, a fully digital instrument cluster and premium materials across the dashboard and seats. Advanced safety technology will also be a focus, with a full ADAS package expected to be offered. Other comfort and convenience features may include ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charging, automatic climate control, a powered tailgate and six airbags as standard or on higher trims. In terms of design, the Tekton will take inspiration from Nissan’s larger global SUVs, especially the Patrol, giving it a strong and upright look. Squared-off styling, a bold front grille, C-shaped LED headlamps, a sculpted bonnet and a strong shoulder line are expected highlights. At the rear, the SUV could feature a full-width LED light bar, an integrated spoiler and clear Tekton branding. Under the skin, the Tekton will share its platform with the next-generation Renault Duster, which is set to launch on January 26, 2026. Both models will be based on the CMF-B architecture, heavily adapted for Indian roads and driving conditions while meeting global safety standards. Production will take place at the Renault-Nissan Alliance plant in Chennai, and this same platform will later be used for more future models from the alliance.
