Nissan and Renault are gearing up for an important phase in India, with 2026 shaping up to be a busy year full of new launches across different SUV and MPV segments. Nissan will begin the year with the launch of the Gravite, which will mark the brand’s entry into the sub-4 metre MPV space. This segment is currently served mainly by the Renault Triber, and the Gravite will be closely based on it. While the overall shape and layout will remain familiar, Nissan plans to give the Gravite a bolder and more confident look through small design changes. These include a wider front grille with horizontal elements, a bold Nissan badge and model name on the bonnet, and sharper-looking bumpers with silver highlights on the sides. Inside the cabin, major changes are not expected, as the focus will remain on practicality and space. The engine and gearbox options are also likely to stay the same as the Triber, making the Gravite a family-friendly vehicle aimed at buyers looking for flexibility and value.

Shortly after, Renault will step into the spotlight with the third-generation Duster, which is scheduled to make its global debut in late January and could go on sale in India by February. The new Duster will be a big step forward compared to the older model that Indian buyers remember. Built on the modern CMF-B LS platform, the upcoming Duster will offer a stronger body, a fresher and more premium design, and a much more modern cabin. Buyers can expect better connectivity features, improved comfort, and new safety technologies that were missing in the earlier version. Nissan will then follow up with the Tekton, which will share its core structure and engines with the Duster but will look quite different on the outside. Inspired by Nissan’s larger SUVs, the Tekton will have a sharper and tougher front design to give it its own identity. While the interiors may feel similar, Nissan could offer this model with the same petrol and hybrid options, with a hybrid version expected later in 2027.

Towards the end of the year, Renault plans to expand its SUV line-up further by introducing a three-row version of the Duster. This new seven-seat SUV will focus more on comfort and premium features to attract larger families. Unlike the standard Duster, this version is expected to offer bigger alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof, a powered tailgate, and a fully digital driver display. Renault may also add special colour options, including two-tone shades, to help it stand out. Under the bonnet, it is likely to launch with a turbo petrol engine, while a hybrid version could arrive later. Nissan has also confirmed that it will bring its own three-row SUV, which will be closely related to Renault’s model. As seen with the Tekton, Nissan will give its version a unique exterior look while keeping most of the mechanical parts the same. This model could arrive shortly after Renault’s launch, helping both brands strengthen their presence in the competitive mid-size SUV space in India.

Nissan and Renault are expected to show steady improvement in the Indian car market, supported by new launches, shared platforms, and a strong focus on SUVs. With better product planning, modern features, and competitive pricing, both brands can attract more buyers and slowly rebuild trust, visibility, and overall market presence in the coming years.

Stay tuned and follow up for more.
