BMW G310RR India

What does it get?

Now available with two different color options, the bike has Black and White color options along with a badging “1/310” as the bike will only be limited to 310 units. And for more visual appeal the bike gets decals on the wheel rims.

(Note: the prices mentioned above are ex-showroom prices, and the on-road prices will differ to the respective state you buy it in.)

The Entire BMW line-up has got exceptional bikes like the S1000, R18, F950 and many more. With this being the entry level bike, the company has a chance to hit the Indian consumer with a promising machine with the BMW logo that adds up to the feel. Except for the performance the bike only has gimmicks that can attract or convince one to buy it.

The Competition:

With the new GST policy, the bike sits below the 400cc category and does not get affected by any GST hike, but instead will be affected by the competition. Companies like Royal Enfield have got their bikes more affordable and also has the upper edge of the brand value in India. It competes with the Royal Enfield Hunter 350 which has been a fan favorite since the launch. The Triumph T4 is also something that the company should consider to be a tough completion as the bike itself is just a tuned down version of the Triumph Speed 400 and as both the bikes are identical it is difficult to distinguish between them. Whereas on the other hand incase of BMW, it already is the TVS Apache RR310 with cosmetic changes.

Conclusion:

One can often mistake it to be a TVS and hence both the bike are completely same, it doesn’t make any difference or has a point to stand out. The TVS Apache RR310 being more affordable that the BMW version of the RR310, it makes no sense spending more money for the same bits.

The main issue with selling the G310RR is its sister bike the RR310. It doesn’t outstand in the market and both the bikes face tough competition in the market. For a brand like BMW the consumer expects a machine that can outstand against the Triumph Speed 400. Moreover this category is already dominated by the KTMs and other bikes, making it seem useless to buy a G310 RR except for desire. The bike has been suffering since its launch as it not able to hit a perfect spot that convinces the consumer to buy one. And on the other hand if a consumer can buy the same bike for a more affordable rate, then why would someone pay extra? The pros do justify the whole package that the bike has to offer but at the end of the day, the biggest con of the bike is the price and the competition it has to compete with. Nothing makes this bike a deal breaker and is left for a niche audience that would go for this bike. changing the appeal and adding more deal breaker points to the bike can surely help it to grow in the market.
