Yamaha R15 70th Anniversary Edition:

India Yamaha Motor has announced a special anniversary pricing programme for its popular R15 motorcycle range to celebrate Yamaha’s 70th global anniversary, and this limited-period offer has been rolled out from January 5 with the aim of making Yamaha’s performance motorcycles more accessible to a wider set of buyers. As part of this initiative, Yamaha is offering a flat price benefit of Rs. 5,000 across the entire R15 lineup, which directly lowers the starting price and makes the bike more attractive for young riders and first-time performance motorcycle owners. With this benefit applied, the Yamaha R15 range now starts at Rs. 1,50,700 ex-showroom Delhi, positioning it as one of the most approachable entry-level supersport motorcycles in the Indian market. Yamaha’s intention behind this move is clearly to attract customers who want sporty looks, strong performance, and modern features, but are also mindful of their budgets. The company believes that the revised pricing will help more riders step into the R15 family without feeling the financial pressure that often comes with buying a fully-faired performance bike. Since this is an anniversary offer, it is expected to be available only for a short time, and Yamaha has also mentioned that the final benefit may slightly differ depending on dealer-level schemes and stock availability.
Under this revised pricing structure, Yamaha continues to clearly separate the R15 range into three variants, each aimed at a different type of buyer. At the base of the lineup sits the R15 S, which is now priced at Rs. 1,50,700 ex-showroom Delhi, making it the most affordable option for those who want the R15 design and performance at the lowest possible entry cost. This variant is ideal for riders who are upgrading from smaller commuter bikes and want to experience a sporty motorcycle without too many advanced electronics. Moving higher in the range, the Yamaha R15 V4 is priced at Rs. 1,66,200 and offers more premium hardware and electronic features, appealing to riders who want a more advanced and modern riding experience. At the top of the lineup is the R15 M, priced at Rs. 1,81,100 ex-showroom Delhi, which comes with the highest level of equipment and is targeted at enthusiasts who want the most feature-rich version of the R15. Over the years, the Yamaha R15 has built a strong fan base in India thanks to its sharp, race-inspired styling, balanced performance, and impressive fuel efficiency, making it a practical yet exciting choice in the sporty motorcycle segment.

The strong popularity of the Yamaha R15 range can also be seen in its production numbers, with more than one million units manufactured in India since its launch, highlighting the trust and demand it enjoys among Indian riders. At the heart of the R15 is a 155 cc liquid-cooled, fuel-injected engine that uses Yamaha’s DiASil cylinder technology, which helps improve performance and durability while keeping efficiency in check. This engine produces 18.4 PS of power at 10,000 rpm and 14.2 Nm of torque at 7,500 rpm, and it is paired with a smooth 6-speed gearbox that allows riders to make the most of the bike’s power across city roads and highways. The motorcycle is built around Yamaha’s well-known Deltabox frame, which plays a big role in delivering stable handling and a confident feel, especially at higher speeds and while cornering. In terms of features, the R15 range offers a strong list that includes traction control, an assist and slipper clutch, upside-down front forks, a linked-type monoshock rear suspension, and a quick shifter on select variants, all of which add to the bike’s sporty and premium character. With this anniversary pricing in place, Yamaha is clearly aiming to strengthen the R15’s position as a well-rounded, value-for-money supersport motorcycle that blends performance, style, and everyday usability.
