India EV sales February 2026 breakdown:

In February 2026, the Indian electric vehicle space continued its upward trajectory as total EV sales climbed to 20,616 units, marking a healthy 25.3 per cent month-on-month growth over January’s 16,456 units, signalling a steady rise in consumer confidence and adoption across both mass-market and premium segments, with newer models gaining traction and established players maintaining a firm grip, while the spotlight of the month was firmly on Mahindra & Mahindra, whose newly introduced XEV lineup reshaped the competitive landscape, even as Tata Motors continued to hold its leadership position in overall volumes.
At the OEM level, Tata Motors retained the top spot with 7,982 units, despite witnessing a 7.4 per cent decline from 8,616 units in January, still commanding a dominant 38.7 per cent market share, while Mahindra & Mahindra emerged as the biggest gainer with a remarkable surge to 7,168 units from 3,660 units, reflecting a massive 95.8 per cent month-on-month growth and capturing 34.8 per cent share, followed by MG Motor which secured third place with 3,642 units despite a marginal dip, as Maruti Suzuki made its presence felt in fourth position with 870 units and Kia posted an impressive rise to 653 units, while Hyundai and Citroen remained relatively smaller contributors in the overall tally.

On the model front, the newly launched Mahindra XEV 9S led the charts with 3,539 units, followed by the MG Windsor at 2,599 units and the Tata Nexon EV at 2,410 units, as Mahindra’s XEV 9e and Tata’s expanding EV lineup including Harrier EV, Curvv EV, Tiago EV and Punch EV continued to drive volumes, while new entrants like the Maruti e Vitara marked their arrival with promising numbers, collectively painting a picture of a fast-evolving EV ecosystem where innovation, product diversity and aggressive expansion are shaping the future of mobility in India.
