Mini, that fall sunder the BMW group, has now launched their Mini Cooper Convertible in India. Here’s what we know so far.

Mini Cooper Convertible:
The new Mini Cooper Convertible has finally arrived in India as a fully built import, and it brings with it the classic open-top charm that Mini fans love, offering something truly different from the usual cars on our roads, as it can be booked through any Mini dealership with deliveries starting immediately, and one of its biggest highlights is the soft top roof that folds down electrically in just 18 seconds and can even be operated while driving at speeds of up to 30 kmph, smoothly lowering the windows at the same time to create a large airy opening, while the boot still offers 215 litres of space with the roof closed and a practical 160 litres when it is dropped, and the fabric top can also slide back slightly like a sunroof—up to 40 centimetres—at any speed for those who prefer just a bit of fresh air.
While the exterior continues with Mini’s well-known design including the signature round LED headlights which now have three selectable light patterns and a new wide grille that fits in with the updated Mini family look, along with welcome and goodbye light animations that project the Mini logo, and at the back, the upright LED tail-lamps sit flush in a clean vertical design, while buyers can choose from colours like Sunny Side Yellow, Chili Red, Ocean Wave Green and British Racing Green, with contrasting black or white mirror caps and stylish 18-inch two-tone aerodynamic alloy wheels, and inside, the cabin is built around a circular high-resolution OLED screen called the Mini Interaction Unit which works as both the infotainment display and the instrument cluster, running the Mini Operating System 9 that uses simple app-like menus and intuitive gestures, while the Intelligent Personal Assistant responds to “Hey Mini” and can help with navigation, music and many other functions, and the car also comes with features like Mini Digital Key Plus, Remote Software Upgrades, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a Harman Kardon sound system, a head-up display and a wide range of connected features, with storage areas including a wireless charging pad under the Toggle Bar Island which holds controls for the start/stop function, gear selector and the experience mode switch, and the seats use Vescin upholstery which is leather-free and made from recycled materials, with electric adjustments and an Active Seat for the driver for extra comfort, while Mini Experience Modes let you change the lighting, graphics and sound themes inside the car.

The power comes from a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine in the Convertible S variant that makes 204 hp from 5,000 to 6,500 rpm and 300 Nm of torque between 1,450 and 4,500 rpm, allowing the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 6.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 240 kmph, with the power sent through a 7-speed dual-clutch Steptronic Sport gearbox, and features like auto start/stop, brake energy regeneration, active cooling and electric steering included as standard, while safety is taken care of with multiple airbags, Dynamic Stability Control, ABS, Cornering Brake Control, Brake Assist, a crash sensor, rear-view camera and tyre pressure monitoring, and convenience features include the new Comfort Access system that locks or unlocks the car when the key is within 1.5 metres, along with cruise control and a parking assistant, and Mini backs the car with a two-year standard warranty with unlimited kilometres plus 24×7 roadside assistance, and service packages starting at three years or 40,000 km that can be extended up to ten years or one lakh kilometres, with warranty extensions also available for up to ten years, while BMW India Financial Services supports buyers with Mini Smart Finance options starting from monthly payments of about ₹58,500 along with an assured buyback, and finally, the new Mini Cooper Convertible is priced at ₹58,50,000 ex-showroom.
