New Nissan SUVs in India

Nissan Motor India is finally turning its comeback plans into real action by confirming the launch of two all-new cars in a short span of time, starting with the Gravite MPV early in the new year and followed closely by the more important Tekton midsize SUV in February 2026, showing that the brand is serious about rebuilding its presence in the Indian market after a quiet phase, with the Gravite being the first step in this journey as it is built on the CMF-A platform that also underpins the Renault Triber, which helps Nissan keep costs low through high localisation at its Oragadam plant in Tamil Nadu, while also allowing the company to price the MPV aggressively, as bookings for the Gravite will begin in January and customer deliveries are expected to start by March 2026 across the country, making it one of the most affordable seven-seaters on sale, with an expected starting price below Rs. 6 lakh ex-showroom, which will place it not only against the Triber but also close to entry-level hatchbacks, a move that could attract budget-focused family buyers looking for space and flexibility, as the Gravite will offer three rows of seating with a strong focus on modular use, allowing owners to adjust the cabin based on daily needs, while Nissan has also worked on giving it a different visual identity compared to its Renault sibling, especially at the front where a wide blacked-out face, slim LED lighting and a more upright stance give it a fresh look, and at the rear where horizontal LED tail lamps, a straight tailgate design and clear Gravite badging add to its road presence.

While under the bonnet the MPV will be offered with two petrol engine options including a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated engine for regular city use and a more powerful 1.0-litre turbo petrol for those who want better performance, with both manual and automatic gearbox choices planned to suit different driving preferences, making the Gravite a practical and value-focused product aimed at volumes, whereas the bigger responsibility of reviving the Nissan brand image will rest on the Tekton midsize SUV, which is set to be unveiled at Nissan’s resurgence event in February and will enter one of the most competitive segments in India, going up against popular models like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Maruti Suzuki Victoris, Tata Sierra, Tata Curvv and Mahindra Scorpio N, meaning it will need to stand out strongly in terms of design, features and driving feel, as the Tekton will be based on the all-new CMF-B platform that it shares with the upcoming next-generation Renault Duster, a modern architecture that will also be used later to develop a three-row SUV planned for FY2027, showing Nissan’s long-term product roadmap for India, while in terms of styling the Tekton will borrow heavily from Nissan’s global SUV design language, featuring a tall and upright shape, squared-off proportions that give it a strong road presence, signature C-shaped LED lights at the front, and a full-width LED light bar at the rear, all of which are aimed at giving the SUV a bold and modern look that appeals to Indian buyers, and when seen together, the Gravite and Tekton represent Nissan’s clear attempt to rebuild trust, improve showroom footfall and slowly regain relevance in India by offering practical, well-priced and modern products that cater to both mass-market and aspirational SUV buyers in the coming years.
