Scorpio N pick-up truck:

Mahindra seems to be moving steadily towards launching an all-new lifestyle pickup truck based on the Scorpio N, and this has become clearer with multiple test vehicles being spotted on Indian roads throughout 2025, all wearing heavy camouflage, which strongly suggests that the model is still under active development. Earlier sightings had shown a single-cab version with a long cargo bed, hinting at a more utilitarian focus, but the latest spy images now point towards a more practical and market-friendly dual-cab layout, which is better suited for Indian buyers who want both lifestyle appeal and everyday usability. The idea of this pickup is not entirely new, as the first strong clues appeared back in November 2023 when Mahindra’s design patent images surfaced online, and these designs looked very similar to the Global Pik Up concept that was showcased at Mahindra’s Futurescape event in South Africa earlier that year. At the time, Mahindra had confirmed that the concept was meant to reach production, making it clear that the brand was serious about entering the lifestyle pickup segment with a product positioned above regular workhorse pickups, and internally, this project is believed to be known as Z121.
From what has been seen so far, the upcoming pickup will borrow heavily from the Scorpio N in terms of overall design and proportions, but it will not be a direct copy, as Mahindra appears to be giving it a more rugged and upright stance to suit its pickup identity. The patent images and concept version show tougher body lines, a more muscular look, and a shorter load bed combined with a double-cab body, which is quite different from the long-bed prototype that was seen earlier during testing, suggesting that Mahindra is still experimenting with different layouts before locking in the final version for India. Earlier test vehicles had a front design that looked almost identical to the Scorpio N, featuring the familiar six-slot grille, the Twin Peaks logo, LED headlamps, and C-shaped daytime running lights, but newer spy shots hint that Mahindra may introduce subtle visual changes to help the pickup stand apart, although some elements still appear unfinished, indicating that the design is not yet final.

Under the body, the Scorpio N-based pickup is expected to use a newly developed body-on-frame chassis that is strong enough to handle off-road driving and load-carrying duties, while still offering comfort for daily use. Power is likely to come from Mahindra’s second-generation mHawk four-cylinder turbo diesel engine made from aluminium, paired with either a six-speed manual gearbox or a six-speed automatic transmission, and a four-wheel-drive system with shift-on-the-fly functionality is also expected to be offered. Mahindra has already confirmed that the production model will support Level 2 ADAS features, which may include semi-automatic parking assistance, along with modern tech like 5G connectivity, showing that the brand wants this pickup to feel modern and premium. Multiple drive modes such as Normal, Grass-Gravel-Snow, Mud-Rut, and Sand are also expected, making it capable across different terrains, and features like Trailer Sway Mitigation could be added to improve safety while towing. With its expected dual-cab layout and premium positioning, this new pickup is likely to compete with models like the Toyota Hilux and Isuzu V-Cross when it launches around 2026, while Mahindra is also expected to roll out a mid-cycle update for the regular Scorpio N around the same time.
