Tata Sierra EV:
The Tata Sierra EV, expected to arrive in early 2026, is shaping up to be one of the brand’s most important electric launches, with a strong focus on battery technology and long driving range. Tata is likely to use a battery setup similar to the one in the upcoming Harrier EV, but with a larger capacity to suit the Sierra’s more premium positioning. This bigger battery is expected to offer a real-world range of over 500 km on a single charge, which should reduce range anxiety for most buyers and make it suitable for both city use and long highway trips. Fast charging support will also be part of the package, allowing the battery to be topped up quickly when needed. In addition, the Sierra EV is expected to come with bi-directional charging, meaning it could potentially power external devices or even supply electricity back to a home or another vehicle. Tata has already confirmed that it will introduce three electric vehicles in 2026, including a facelifted Punch EV and its first production model based on the Avinya concept. Positioned above the Curvv EV, the Sierra EV will be aimed at customers looking for a more premium midsize electric SUV with a five-seat layout. While it will be modern and future-ready, Tata plans to give it a few design touches inspired by the original Sierra, along with cues from its latest petrol and diesel sibling, helping it retain a sense of familiarity while still feeling fresh.
Inside the cabin, the Tata Sierra EV is expected to be one of the most advanced vehicles the brand has ever made. The highlight will likely be a triple-screen layout, which includes a fully digital instrument cluster for the driver, a large touchscreen for infotainment in the centre, and a separate display for the front passenger. This setup is meant to make the cabin feel more modern, tech-focused, and interactive. Tata is expected to load the Sierra EV with features right from the base variant, making it attractive even at the entry level. Higher trims could get advanced safety and driver assistance features, including Level 2 ADAS, which can help with tasks like lane keeping, adaptive cruise control, and emergency braking. Other premium features that are likely to be offered include connected car technology, dual-zone climate control, powered front seats, ambient lighting, and a high-quality audio system. A panoramic glass roof is also expected, adding to the airy and open feel of the cabin. Tata may also use better-quality materials for the interiors, giving the Sierra EV a more upmarket and comfortable vibe. Overall, the focus seems to be on creating a cabin that feels both futuristic and practical, blending technology with comfort to appeal to modern buyers.

In terms of design, the Sierra EV will keep the tall, boxy shape that made the original Sierra so recognizable, but with several updates to reflect its electric identity. The front is expected to get a closed-off grille, which is typical for EVs since they do not need as much airflow as petrol or diesel engines. A full-width LED daytime running light bar, split headlamps, and redesigned bumpers with darker elements will give it a bold and rugged look. The lower section of the bumper is also expected to look more muscular, adding to its SUV character. Other design highlights may include squared-off wheel arches, strong shoulder lines, flush or smart door handles, and newly designed alloy wheels that enhance its modern appeal. At the rear, the Sierra EV is likely to get a connected LED light strip, giving it a wider and more futuristic stance. Several test vehicles have already been spotted on Indian roads, covered in camouflage, which suggests that Tata has moved past the early development stage and is now fine-tuning the final product. The brand even teased the model a few weeks ago, hinting that the official reveal may not be too far away. With its mix of long range, modern features, and a nostalgic yet updated design, the Tata Sierra EV could become a strong contender in the premium electric SUV space when it finally arrives.
