Top 10 hatchback car sales in India February 2026:

India’s hatchback segment continued to showcase its importance in the overall passenger vehicle market during February 2026, with several familiar models maintaining strong positions despite mixed sales performances. Leading the category once again was the Maruti Suzuki WagonR, which recorded sales of 14,885 units during the month. Although it remained the best-selling hatchback, the model experienced a noticeable year-on-year decline compared to the 19,879 units sold in February 2025. Following closely behind was the Maruti Suzuki Swift, which secured the second position with 14,833 units. The popular hatchback also witnessed a slight drop in demand, registering a 9 percent decrease from the 16,269 units sold during the same period last year. Completing the top three was the Maruti Suzuki Baleno with 14,632 units. While the model continues to dominate the premium hatchback category, its sales were marginally lower than the 15,480 units it achieved a year earlier.

Moving further down the rankings, a few models managed to post encouraging gains despite the competitive environment in the hatchback space. The entry-level Maruti Suzuki Alto delivered a positive performance by registering 9,787 units in February 2026, reflecting a healthy 15 percent increase over the 8,541 units recorded during the same month last year. The Tata Tiago also maintained a stable presence in the segment with 7,040 units, showing a modest improvement of around 1 percent compared to the 6,954 units sold a year earlier. Meanwhile, the Hyundai i20 stood out as one of the strongest gainers in the list, achieving a significant rise in sales. The premium hatchback registered 5,852 units last month, marking a remarkable 61 percent jump compared to the 3,627 units delivered during the corresponding period in the previous year.
Elsewhere in the top ten, the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios also demonstrated steady progress in the market with 5,589 units, reflecting a 13 percent growth over its February 2025 performance. In contrast, the Toyota Glanza saw a notable decline in sales, recording 3,212 units which represented a 30 percent drop compared to the 4,596 units it managed during the same month last year. Toward the lower end of the ranking, the Tata Altroz posted a positive trend by reaching 2,063 units and registering a solid 29 percent increase over the 1,604 units sold a year earlier. The list concluded with the Maruti Suzuki Ignis, which delivered 1,848 units in February 2026, reflecting a 23 percent decline from the 2,394 units it recorded in February last year. Overall, the numbers highlight a segment that remains highly competitive, with some models gaining momentum while others experience fluctuations in demand.
