Top 10 SUVs of December 2025 :

The SUV market in December 2025 showed strong growth, with several models recording impressive year-on-year increases compared to December 2024. At the top of the list was the Maruti Suzuki Fronx, which claimed the first spot by selling 20,706 units, nearly double its previous year’s figure of 10,752 units. This huge jump of 93 percent clearly shows how quickly the Fronx has gained popularity among buyers who want a stylish yet affordable compact SUV. Right behind it was the Tata Nexon, which also had a solid month, selling 19,375 units compared to 13,536 units last year, marking a growth of 43 percent. The Nexon continues to attract customers due to its strong safety image, good features, and comfortable driving experience. In third place was the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, which sold 17,704 units, only slightly higher than its 17,336 units from the previous year. While its growth of 2 percent may look small, it still shows that the Brezza remains a consistent choice in the compact SUV space. Tata Punch followed closely with 15,980 units sold, up from 15,073 units last year, recording a modest growth of 6 percent, proving its steady demand among urban and first-time buyers.

Moving further down the list, Mahindra Scorpio stood strong in fifth position with 15,885 units sold in December 2025, compared to 12,195 units in December 2024. This 30 percent growth highlights how much people still love rugged and bold-looking SUVs. The Scorpio has built a loyal fan base over the years, and its tough image continues to appeal to buyers who enjoy adventure and long road trips. Hyundai Creta, one of the most popular SUVs in India, secured the sixth spot with 13,154 units sold, slightly up from 12,608 units last year, showing a 4 percent growth. While the increase is small, it proves that the Creta remains a trusted and well-loved option. In seventh place was the Hyundai Venue, which sold 10,322 units compared to 10,265 units in December 2024, marking a very slight 1 percent growth. The Venue continues to perform steadily, especially among young buyers who prefer a compact size with modern features. Mahindra XUV 3XO came in eighth with 9,422 units, showing a healthy rise from 7,000 units last year, which means a 35 percent increase, reflecting growing interest in this new-age compact SUV.
The bottom two spots on the list also had some interesting results. The Kia Sonet took ninth place with 9,418 units sold, a massive jump from just 3,337 units in December 2024. This huge 182 percent growth makes it one of the biggest gainers on the list and shows how much the Sonet’s design, features, and brand value have helped it bounce back strongly. Right behind it was the Mahindra Thar, which sold 9,339 units, up from 7,659 units last year, registering a solid growth of 22 percent. The Thar continues to be a favorite among off-road lovers and people who want a bold, lifestyle SUV. Overall, December 2025 clearly showed that the SUV segment remains one of the most competitive and fast-growing parts of the car market. Buyers now have many choices, from compact city-friendly SUVs to tough off-roaders, and this variety is driving strong sales across brands. With such healthy growth numbers, it is clear that SUVs will continue to dominate the Indian car market in the coming months.
