VinFast India Sales:

Four months after its official entry into the Indian market, VinFast has achieved its first major milestone by crossing 1,000 units in cumulative sales. The Vietnamese EV maker launched the VF 6 and VF 7 in September last year, with customer deliveries beginning in October. As per retail figures shared by the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA), the company sold a combined total of 826 units of these two electric SUVs in 2025. Adding to this, a recent report stated that VinFast sold more than 200 EVs in January alone, helping it cross the 1,000-unit mark. Along with this achievement, the brand has also announced a price hike for both its models, as the introductory pricing period has now ended. Earlier, the VF 6 was priced between ₹16.49 lakh and ₹18.29 lakh, while the VF 7 was available from ₹20.89 lakh to ₹25.49 lakh, all prices being ex-showroom. With the revised pricing, the VF 6 now starts at ₹17.29 lakh and goes up to ₹19.19 lakh, making it costlier by ₹80,000 to ₹90,000 depending on the variant. Similarly, the VF 7 now ranges from ₹21.89 lakh to ₹26.79 lakh, with an increase of ₹1 lakh to ₹1.3 lakh across different trims. This price revision applies to all configurations, including the Earth, Wind, Infinity, and Sky variants in both front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive layouts.
In terms of size and positioning, the VinFast VF 6 is placed as a rival to popular compact SUVs like the Hyundai Creta. It measures 4,241 mm in length, 1,834 mm in width, and 1,615 mm in height, giving it a strong road presence while still being suitable for city use. The VF 6 is offered in two front-wheel-drive versions, one producing 174 hp and 250 Nm of torque, and the other delivering 201 hp and 310 Nm. Both variants use a 59.6 kWh LFP battery pack that supports fast charging of up to 100 kW. This battery setup allows the lower-output version to deliver a range of up to 468 kilometres on a single charge, while the more powerful version offers a slightly lower range of 463 kilometres. On the other hand, the VF 7 is a larger and more premium electric SUV that competes with models like the Tata Harrier.ev. It measures 4,550 mm in length, 1,893 mm in width, and 1,596 mm in height. The VF 7 comes in three main variants. The base version uses a front-wheel-drive layout and features the same 174 hp motor and 59.6 kWh battery as the base VF 6, offering a range of 438 kilometres. The middle variant keeps the same motor but upgrades to a larger 70 kWh LFP battery that supports charging speeds of up to 110 kW, allowing it to travel up to 532 kilometres on a single charge.

The top-end VF 7 variant stands out with its dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup, which produces a strong 349 hp and 510 Nm of torque, making it the most powerful model in VinFast’s Indian lineup. It also uses the same 70 kWh battery pack as the middle variant, but due to the added power and AWD system, its range drops slightly to 510 kilometres. VinFast assembles both the VF 6 and VF 7 locally in India using CKD kits at its facility in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu. This local assembly approach helps the brand manage costs while gradually building its presence in the country. Currently, VinFast operates 31 showrooms and 84 service centres across India, which shows its commitment to expanding its network and supporting customers. While the sales numbers are still modest compared to established players, crossing the 1,000-unit mark is an important step for a new brand trying to gain trust in a competitive EV market. The price hike may slightly impact affordability, but with solid range figures, modern designs, and multiple powertrain options, the VF 6 and VF 7 continue to offer strong alternatives for Indian buyers looking to switch to electric vehicles.
