VW, Nissan and MG new cars in India:

JSW MG Motor is all set to launch the MG Majestor next month, a new three-row ladder-frame SUV that was first shown at the Auto Expo 2025. Although it is based on the MG Gloster, the company has given it a new name, which suggests that both models could be sold together in the market. The Majestor looks much bolder and more rugged than before, thanks to a redesigned front grille, split headlamps, and chunkier skid plates that add to its tough SUV appeal. These styling changes make it look more premium and modern, while still keeping its strong road presence. On the inside, MG has focused on making the cabin feel more high-tech and comfortable. It now comes with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a new 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which are expected to offer better graphics and smoother performance. Some new comfort features and advanced driver assistance systems may also be added to improve safety and convenience. However, MG is not expected to make any major mechanical updates, meaning the engine and performance figures will likely remain the same as the Gloster.

Nissan is also getting ready to enter the highly competitive midsize SUV segment with its new model called the Tekton. This SUV is being developed on the CMF-B LS platform and is designed to compete directly with popular models like the Hyundai Creta. Nissan will officially unveil the Tekton on 4 February, and it will be closely related to the upcoming third-generation Renault Duster, which is set to be revealed on 26 January. While both SUVs will share the same base, the Tekton will have its own unique look, inspired by the larger and more premium Nissan Patrol. It is expected to feature sharper headlamps, a stronger-looking grille, sportier bumpers, and stylish 18-inch alloy wheels, giving it a more upmarket feel compared to its Renault sibling. Inside, the layout will mostly remain the same as the Duster, but Nissan may use different materials, colours, and trim elements to create a more premium cabin experience. The Tekton is likely to launch with 1.0-litre and 1.3-litre turbo petrol engines in March, while a hybrid version could be introduced about a year later.
Volkswagen is also preparing to launch its new SUV, the Tayron, which is closely related to the Skoda Kodiaq. The Tayron is expected to make its debut later this month, with an official launch likely in February. It is a large SUV, measuring 4.8 metres in length, 1.9 metres in width, and 1.7 metres in height, with a long 2.8-metre wheelbase that should offer plenty of cabin space. Volkswagen will offer both five-seat and seven-seat versions, though the seven-seater may be given priority for the Indian market. Under the hood, the Tayron is expected to come with a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 201 hp and 320 Nm of torque, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox and an all-wheel-drive system as standard. Feature-wise, it will be well-equipped, with highlights such as 18-inch alloy wheels, a hands-free tailgate, massage function for the front seats, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and a large 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, making it one of the most premium SUVs in its segment.
Expected to shake up the SUV market, the MG Majestor may attract buyers with its rugged presence and comfort focus, the VW Tayron could impress with strong turbo-petrol power, premium features, and all-wheel drive, while the Nissan Tekton is likely to gain popularity for its balanced performance, modern design, and value-driven positioning in India over the coming months nationwide soon.
Stay tuned and follow up for more.
