Kia India sales September 2026 hit a record 32,017 units of domestic wholesale, up 41% from 22,700 a year ago and 10.24% above August’s 29,042. It is the best month in the company’s history and caps a quarter that grew 38.5% on last year.
All figures are Kia’s own wholesale numbers as reported by Autocar Professional, with retail data from Rushlane. We keep the two measures apart throughout.
Kia India Sales September 2026 vs August: The Numbers
Kia sent 32,017 cars to dealers in September, 2,975 more than August. Against September 2025 that is a rise of roughly 9,300 units, or 41%.
Year to date, Kia has sold 253,008 units between January and September, up 22.5% from 206,582 in the same period of 2025. The third quarter alone was 89,259 units against 64,443 a year earlier, a 38.5% increase.
The Models Behind the Record
The Seltos and Sonet remain the volume anchors, and Autocar Professional notes the Seltos has averaged over 10,000 units a month since its January launch. Around them, the Carens range has widened, with the Carens Clavis and Clavis EV joining the lineup.
The Syros EV adds an electric option in the compact SUV space, and the new Sorento arrives as a diesel and hybrid flagship. CNG variants have now been introduced on the Carens and Clavis, a change aimed squarely at buyers who care about running costs.
EV Is a Growing Slice
Kia’s EV portfolio runs from the Syros EV and Carens Clavis EV down in price to the EV6 and EV9 at the top. It is backed by an assured buyback programme, battery-as-a-service and a lifetime high-voltage battery warranty, all designed to ease first-time EV worries.
In our separate analysis of Kia EV sales in September 2026, retail EV registrations rose 48% to 1,263 units, which moved Kia past Maruti Suzuki in the national EV ranking.
Wholesale vs Retail
Rushlane reports Kia’s September retail registrations at 26,663 units. Compared with 32,017 wholesale, dealers received roughly 5,350 more cars than they sold, so the record dispatch figure partly reflects stock build-up.
That is not a red flag in a strong festive build-up, but it makes October and November retail numbers more important. A record month in dispatches only pays off if customers actually take delivery.
What This Means for Buyers
Kia is in a good position to offer festive deals because it has stock and new products to push. If you are considering a Carens CNG, check our guide to Kia Carens CNG price in India before you walk into the showroom.
Compare on-road prices across dealers, because stock levels vary by city, and ask what festive benefits apply on the specific variant you want.
Final Verdict
Kia India sales September 2026 are a record by a wide margin and the growth is broad, from the Seltos and Sonet to the Carens range and new EVs. The one caution is stock: wholesale ran well ahead of retail, so the next two months will show whether demand matches the supply Kia has built.
