Innova Hycross Waiting Period: Surat Waits Twice as Long as Ahmedabad

The Innova Hycross waiting period is the most city-dependent number in the Indian car market right now, and a buyer in Surat is on the wrong side of it. CarDekho’s September 14 table lists Surat at six to eight months, while Ahmedabad, a few hours up the highway, is at three to four.

That gap should change how you book, where you book and, for some families, what you book. Here is the full city picture, the caveats on the data, and an honest look at whether the Crysta is the smarter Diwali buy.

The city-wise table

CarDekho’s table splits the country cleanly. New Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai, Ahmedabad and Kolkata are all at three to four months. Bengaluru is three to six. Thane, Chandigarh, Coimbatore, Faridabad, Indore and Noida are four to six. Lucknow and Patna are six months.

At the extremes, Ghaziabad is the quickest at two to four months, while Pune, Jaipur and Surat are the slowest at six to eight. In plain terms, the same car can arrive three to four months earlier depending on the city on your invoice. If you booked on October 6, Ahmedabad delivery means roughly January to early February 2027. Surat delivery means April to early June.

Read the data with caution

These are dealer-reported ranges, and the article itself says waits depend on variant, colour, demand and cancelled bookings. It does not say whether a figure applies to the petrol or the hybrid, and that matters. A Gaadify report from May 17 said strong-hybrid variants could wait up to 26 months while non-hybrid petrols were around six to seven months at most.

So if your dealer quotes far more than the table shows, believe the dealer and ask which variant the quote covers. If the quote is shorter, ask for the allotment in writing. The honest summary is that three to four months is the best case for a well-served city, and the hybrid top trims may sit much further out.

Our look at Hycross and Crysta sales in 2026 puts the sales numbers of the two Innovas side by side, which is useful context for how many buyers end up in each queue.

The Crysta alternative, with real numbers

The same CarDekho table shows the Innova Crysta at about one month in most cities, with New Delhi the exception at three. The Fortuner is one month in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Ahmedabad and Kolkata, and three months in Mumbai, Lucknow, Ghaziabad and Patna.

CarDekho’s Surat page lists the Crysta at ₹19.72 lakh to ₹26.77 lakh ex-showroom, diesel only, manual only. That is the catch. If you want an automatic or a hybrid in your Innova, the Crysta cannot give it to you. If you want a seven-seater with a Diwali delivery and are fine with a manual diesel, it can.

Our Crysta vs Hycross comparison sets the two Innovas against each other in detail. For a family of seven that wants to drive it before the festival, the one-month queue is a serious argument.

Three ways to beat a six-month wait in Surat

First, ask the Ahmedabad dealers whether they will invoice a Surat resident. Some dealers will sell outside their city and some will not, so it is a question rather than a trick. Do the tax and registration homework before paying anything, because an outstation sale can complicate insurance, registration and warranty handling.

Second, be flexible on trim and colour. A less fashionable colour or a mid trim often leads the queue. Third, ask your Surat dealer about cancelled bookings. CarDekho’s own note says cancelled bookings move waiting periods, and a car allotted to a customer who backed out is a car you could own in weeks.

Keep your expectations realistic about the first idea, since dealers may decline an outstation sale. If you do none of these, book the car you want and treat the wait as a spring or summer purchase. Do not promise the family a Hycross for Lakshmi Puja.

Who should wait, and who should switch

Wait if the Hycross hybrid is the point of the purchase: the strong-hybrid powertrain and the automatic are exactly what the Crysta cannot offer. Pay the token, lock the variant and read the price-protection clause, since prices can change between booking and delivery.

Switch if the date matters more than the car, for instance a wedding season trip or a family move that cannot slip into next summer. For a Surat buyer, a one-month Crysta beats a six to eight month Hycross every time on timing alone. Remember too that a table like this is a snapshot, so check it again the week you book. Our piece on whether to wait for new launches makes the broader point: a long queue has a cost, because you spend those months without the car you needed.

Final Verdict

The Innova Hycross waiting period ranges from two to four months in Ghaziabad to six to eight months in Surat, Pune and Jaipur, per CarDekho’s September 14 table. Ahmedabad’s three to four months is half of Surat’s, so the city on your invoice matters more than the trim in your dream spec.

Our advice for Surat buyers: ask about stock and cancelled bookings first, then compare Ahmedabad dealers, and switch to a Crysta if you need a seven-seater this festive season. These figures are dealer-reported and can shift weekly, so confirm the date in writing before paying.
