New Tata Sierra and Sierra EV:
Tata Motors is clearly putting in serious effort with the upcoming Sierra EV, as test vehicles covered in heavy camouflage have been seen repeatedly on Indian roads, showing that the brand is deep into real-world testing before its expected launch in early 2026. This electric version of the Sierra is not just another EV in Tata’s lineup, but an important model that will help shape the company’s next phase of electric growth, standing alongside other future launches like the updated Punch EV and Tata’s first Avinya-based car planned for 2026. Even though the Sierra EV will keep the familiar and strong shape that fans already recognise, it will get several changes to clearly set it apart as an electric SUV. At the front, it is expected to have a closed grille, a wide LED daytime running light strip, split headlamps and a refreshed bumper with darker elements and a skid plate, giving it a modern and tough look. From the side, the SUV will continue to carry its boxy stance, strong body lines and squared wheel arches, while adding EV-friendly touches such as flush door handles, fresh alloy wheel designs and the classic Sierra-style side window treatment. At the rear, the design is likely to be kept clean and simple, with a connected LED light bar, neat tailgate styling and small EV badges to separate it from the petrol and diesel version.
Inside the cabin, the Sierra EV is expected to raise the bar for Tata in terms of design and technology, even though the basic layout will be similar to the regular Sierra. The focus will be much more on screens and digital features, with a large triple-screen setup taking centre stage on the dashboard. This is likely to include a 12.3-inch digital driver display, a 12.3-inch touchscreen for infotainment and an extra screen for the front passenger, making the cabin feel modern and high-tech. The interior is also expected to feel more premium, with better quality materials, layered dashboard surfaces, soft ambient lighting and a large panoramic glass roof that adds to the sense of space. Tata is expected to load the Sierra EV with features, especially on higher variants, making it one of the brand’s most advanced SUVs yet. Features such as Level 2 ADAS, connected car technology, a high-quality sound system, electrically adjustable front seats, dual-zone climate control and a strong focus on safety are all expected to be part of the package, helping the Sierra EV appeal to buyers looking for both comfort and cutting-edge tech.
Under the skin, the electric Sierra is likely to share its battery options with the Harrier EV, which means buyers can expect strong performance and usable driving range. The larger battery pack is said to offer a real-world range of more than 500 km, making it suitable for both daily city use and longer highway trips. Support for fast DC charging is also expected, which will help reduce charging time, while bi-directional charging could allow the vehicle to power external devices or even support home energy needs. All these elements suggest that Tata wants the Sierra EV to be a well-rounded and future-ready electric SUV rather than just a design statement. Interestingly, the petrol and diesel Sierra has already created a lot of buzz even before the electric version is officially revealed, which shows the strong brand pull of the Sierra name.
