Maruti Suzuki sales September 2026 came in at 236,013 units, a 7.66% rise on August’s 219,220 and 24.44% above September last year. Domestic passenger vehicles did even better against last year, up 36.91%, and the engine behind it was SUVs.
The figures below are Maruti Suzuki’s own wholesale numbers as reported by Autocar Professional, with retail registrations from Rushlane. Where the two differ, we say which one we mean.
Maruti Suzuki Sales September 2026 vs August: The Numbers
Total wholesales, including exports and light commercial vehicles, rose from 219,220 in August to 236,013 in September, an increase of 16,793 units. Domestic passenger vehicles reached 181,838 units, up 2.75% from 176,971 in August and 36.91% above September 2025.
The domestic figure includes the Eeco, which sold 11,040 units. Strip it out and the passenger car and utility vehicle total is 170,798 units, which is the number to use if you want a clean car-versus-car picture.
SUVs Are Now the Biggest Story
Utility vehicles sold 78,911 units, up 62.05% from 48,695 a year ago. Hatchbacks, sedans and other passenger vehicles sold 91,887 units, up a much smaller 24.02%.
SUVs and MPVs now make up about 46% of Maruti’s passenger car and utility vehicle volume. That is a remarkable shift for a company built on small hatchbacks, and it matches the buying pattern we have tracked all year in our Maruti Suzuki market share analysis for August 2026.
Commercial, OEM and Export Lines
The Super Carry light commercial vehicle sold 3,414 units against 2,891 a year earlier. Maruti’s OEM supply to Toyota, the badge-engineered cars Toyota sells under its own name, fell 44.32% to 6,542 units from 11,750.
Exports were 44,219 units, up 4.77% year on year. Maruti remains India’s biggest passenger car exporter, and the growth there is steady rather than spectacular.
Retail Shows the Real Demand
Rushlane reports Maruti Suzuki’s retail registrations at 169,132 units in September, up from 167,200 in August, a 39.59% share of the market. Wholesale ran ahead of retail by roughly 12,700 domestic cars, so dealers took on stock for the festive season.
That is a reasonable move heading into October, but it does raise the stakes. Dealers that built inventory need festive demand to clear it, which tends to bring discounts and finance schemes.
What This Means for Buyers
If you are shopping for a Maruti this festive season, the odds are on your side. Healthy stock means shorter waits on popular models, and inventory-heavy dealers usually offer exchange bonuses and accessory packages.
Compare the Brezza, Fronx and Victoris against rivals before you decide, because the SUV segment is where Maruti is growing fastest and where competitors are pushing hardest.
Final Verdict
Maruti Suzuki sales September 2026 show a company that is growing fast while changing shape. Total wholesales are up 7.66% on August, SUVs are up 62% on last year and hatchbacks are growing far more slowly. The next question is how well the dealer stock sells through in October.
